The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Over Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
